Series: Debkunking Dyke Myths

Myth #1: Lesbians Hate Men

This is simply untrue. End of story. Now, straight boys, when you see a lady who looks like this
Chances are you recognize that she is (possibly) a lesbian right away. AMIRITE???

What you might also (incorrectly) assume is that she will not, give you, a straight dude, the time of day. While this may be true on a romantic level, it is not, however, necessarily true on a friend level. Listen carefully, stereotype- happy straight men: the idea that all lesbians hate you, and that we will not be your friends is a complete myth. If you don't believe me, next time you see a lesbian, walk up, strike up a conversation. I promise she won't run you off. That is, unless you hit on her. That's a story for another myth though.

  1. That has always been the weirdest myth to me. Like, if you don't like peen you automatically hate its owner?

Not to say there aren't sexist lesbians, but there are sexists in any given demographic. Not wanting to have sex with you is not always something personal against you. In fact, with a lesbian, by definition it's not about you, dudes!

So, yeah, I agree. If you avoid making LGBT friends of any description, you're missing out.

  2. Some of the best buds I've had have been straight men. The fact that I hate men is news to me, and certainly to them as well. It is a weird myth.

  3. well said, and too true that so many think that we (lesbians) are man haters. For that matter I have two sons and love them and their fathers, and their straight uncles etc.!
    Let's dispell the myths!
